Police report that at about 20:30 hrs on September 10, 2013, Zulfikar Namdar was shot and killed during an armed robbery committed on his business place by six men with firearms.
Investigations revealed that the perpetrators entered the business premises and shot Zulfikar Namdar to his neck, and 17-year-old shop assistant Stephen Mohamed to his left thigh, before proceeding to assault Zulfikar’s mother, Fazila Namdar, while demanding cash and jewellery.
The men allegedly escaped with $1M whilst discharging rounds indiscriminately.
Zulfikar Namdar was pronounced dead on arrival at the Leonora Cottage Hospital, while Stephen Mohamed was treated and sent away.
And in a separate incident that occurred at No. 55 Village, Corentyne, East Berbice, 74-year-old Lallpersaud Jagadeo was shot and killed by four men during an armed robbery attempt on his home, committed at about 20:15 hrs on September 10, 2013.
Investigations revealed that the perpetrators entered the premises and held up Jagadeo’s wife and four other women who were outside. The women raised an alarm and Jagadeo came downstairs and intervened, during which the perpetrators shot him to his chest before escaping.
Jagadeo was pronounced dead on arrival at the Skeldon Hospital.
Investigations are in progress.
