PRIME Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves yesterday met President Donald Ramotar for bilateral talks after a visit to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat.
The Prime Minister, who holds the Transport portfolio in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet, will assume the Chairmanship of the 15- member community on January 14, 2013. During his visit to Guyana, yesterday, Mr Gonsalves held discussions with CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque and members of the Secretariat’s Executive Management Committee.
The Secretariat reported that he thanked the staff for their work in promoting regional integration and rallied them to “keep the faith”.
He was also given a prelude into some of his priorities in relation to the integration movement such as trade among CARICOM Member States and with external partners, job creation, transportation, economy, free movement and hassle free travel, governance and climate change mitigation.
