Food for the Poor Inc. (FFP) yesterday donated approximately 145 gallons of latex paint to four schools in order to make the teaching and learning environment more conducive.
The schools that benefitted were the Samatta Point Nursery at Grove, East Bank Demerara, which received 40 gallons of paint; Long Creek Primary School on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway, which received 45 gallons; Bath Primary School, West Coast Berbice received 40 gallons and Patentia Primary School, West Bank Demerara, received 20 gallons.
FFP Chief Finance Officer, Mr Aubrey Austin said the organisation regards education very highly. He noted that over its 19 years in existence, the non-governmental organisation and social service provider has maintained a high regard for education and this has been manifested through its significant contributions to the sector.
“One of the most important things we aim for at Food For the Poor, is to make schools more comfortable for the children,” he said.
The teachers who accepted the paint on behalf of their respective schools said they are immensely grateful as the gifts will meet current demands.
FFP has been known for their generous donations to the education sector of Guyana throughout the years as they have donated furniture, text and exercise books as well as school equipment to multiple schools across the country.
The teachers said that they were amazed at the work of FFP in Guyana, noting that the organisation embraces strong attributes including philanthropy, selflessness and compassion. They also noted that they are very impressed with the work and dedication of the staff.
