THE Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre (RLIC) of the Assemblies of God Church has partnered with the Ministry of Public Works to enhance Avocado Square, in East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, where it is situated.
The enhancement is to mark he organisation’s 30th anniversary, said Pastor Simon Harris of the RLIC.
He said the church will be celebrating 30 years of being in East Ruimveldt and, on such an occasion, they need to give back to the community.
Mr. Harris explained that the road was in a very bad condition and needed to be fixed, so they thought why not partner with the Public Works Ministry for the purpose.
He said, upon contacting Minister of Public Works, Mr. Robeson Benn, the latter was more than happy to cooperate and gave the church any assistance it required.
Maintenance Superintendent in the Public Works Ministry, Mr. Lloyd Collins, confirmed that he and his team gave help to the church on the instructions of the minister.
The RLIC has planned a series of activities to mark the milestone, including a medical outreach, beginning at 10:00 hrs today, during which persons can get blood pressure tests and blood counts tested while also donating blood.
Free lunch will be offered passersby at noon and there will be a roadside concert at nightfall.
