Fourth Neal and Massy 10k race and fitness walk set for September 15

THE fourth Annual Neal and Massy 10km Road Race and 5km Fitness Walk will take place on September 15 to coincide with the Group of Companies 45th Anniversary celebrations.
Deo Persaud, Group Chief Executive Officer in remarks at the Launch on Wednesday at Neal and Massy Staff facilities, said that this year’s event is very significant to the group which is celebrating 45 years of operation in Guyana.
The Neal and Massy Group of Companies comprises

altAINLIM, CCS, DOCOL, Geddes Grant, Marketing and Distribution (M&D) NM Services Ltd. (NMSL) and NM Security Solutions (NMSS).
According to Persaud, the race will be taken to other parts of Guyana next year namely Essequibo and Berbice, as part of the Group’s vision to have the event held in other parts of the country.
“We have branches in Essequibo and Berbice and distributors countrywide so it is fitting to have the event held in other areas of the country. It is also another way of giving back to the society and promoting health and wellness,” he added.
Persaud lauded the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) for partnering with the Group over the past four years and wished the recently installed executive committee success in the future.
President of the AAG, Aubrey Hudson, said that his organisation looked forward to the event annually and he thanked Neal and Massy for sponsoring the race which is now part of the Association’s annual calendar of events.
He said the AAG will encourage athletes to participate and will work closely with the Neal and Massy to ensure that the race is taken to other parts of Guyana next year.
National distance runners Cleveland Forde and Alika Morgan who were both present at the Launch have dominated the event from its inception and have expressed confidence in defending their titles.
The race will start in front of Associated Industries Limited (AINLIM) head office at Ruimveldt and will proceed to Providence on the East Bank of Demerara, returning to AINLIM for the finish.
Attractive prizes will be awarded to the top athletes in several categories including male and female open, boys and girls and masters male and female.
Participants for the 5km Walk will start at the Demarara Harbour Bridge junction to finish at AINLIM.
