Duo granted bail on separate malicious damage to property charges

TWO self-employed men who appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty to answer charges of malicious damage to property were each granted bail.

Taxi-driver, Allen Doobhey, 29, of E ½ Hadfield Street, Georgetown who was accused of maliciously damaging two tires belonging to the Ministry of Public Works was granted $50,000 bail.

The charge was laid indictably and Doobhey, a part-time student pilot and father of three, was not required to plead.

Meanwhile, pastry vendor Ian Subryan, 32, of 19 Independence Boulevard, Georgetown, initially admitted to the charge of malicious damage to property. On August 26 at 6th Street, Alberttown he allegedly unlawfully and maliciously broke three windows valued $10,000, property of George Harrinton.

“I does be under the house and I was knocking the window and the nail drop out and caused the windows to fall and break, then I start to pick them up but she started to beat me with a wood. I said no problem moms I’ll buy back your panes,” Subryan stated, trying to explain his guilty plea to the court.

He further stated that when he went to purchase the window panes and repair them he was stopped by the police and slapped with the charge.

Magistrate McGusty then had Subryan’s plea changed to not guilty. He was granted $10,000 bail and told to return to court on September 5.
