Chauffeur facing threatening language and assault charges after tiff with ex-girlfriend

Gregory Trim of 53 Bent Street, Georgetown, was placed on $35,000 bail after answering charges of threatening language and assault yesterday before Magistrate Faith McGusty.

The 35-year-old chauffeur pleaded not guilty to the offence that alleged on Thursday, August 22 at Princes Street, Lodge, he made use of threatening language to Tracy Semple, whereby a breach of the peace may be occasioned.
He pleaded guilty with explanation to the other charge that said on the same day at Princes Street, Lodge, he unlawfully assaulted the same virtual complainant (VC) so as to cause her actual bodily harm.
In his defence he stated that he and VC shared a relationship for four years and after she asked him to move out of her home he complied. He added that on the day in question, the VC called him and said that she did not have anything to cook.
Trim further stated that he went to her home and met her lying on the bed with her “nighty” but told her to put on something and come outside in the hallway so that they can talk.  He then gave her $920 and they decided to take their son out of school since he was no longer employed.   She then began enquiring about his fiancée but he told her that he was  not there to discuss that. She became annoyed and started to verbally abuse him and snatched him and they both had a scuffle.
Based on his explanation, the magistrate recorded a not guilty plea for the second offence.
Police Sergeant Seon Blackman, prosecuting, had no objection to the pretrial liberty of the defendant.
The matter will be called again on September 3.
