THE paediatric ward of the New Amsterdam Hospital (N/A H) and the National Psychiatric Hospital (NPH) were the beneficiaries of sheets and other paraphernalia from the overseas-based family of the late Audrey Fields, who served as the administrator of the ‘old’ New Amsterdam Hospital.
The donation was made in memory of Ms. Fields, who died in 2009 in the United States of America.
Ms. Joan Fields, in her remarks, said that her family is pleased to be associated with the health care institutions in Berbice since they are impressed with the services at the paediatric ward and the psychiatric department.
“Since we are blessed to receive, we are also blessed to share and it gives our family great pleasure in reaching out to these institutions,” she declared.
The donor also expressed hope that the items will be put to good use and promised to make further contributions to the regional health sector.
GRATITUDEIn response to the gesture extended by the Fields’ family, Administrator of the NPH Leila Clarke-Daniels expressed gratitude for the donation and promised to make good use of the items.
“As a former colleague of Ms. Fields, I am happy to receive this timely donation and I know my late friend would have been happy to witness this event. We thank you all for remembering us and we look forward to working with your family in the future,” she expressed.
