ROSEAU, Dominica, (CMC) – The President of the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association (DABA), Mickey Joseph has been suspended from the national basketball league on the island.
Joseph, who is the head coach of the Sign Man X-men team and his assistant, Milton Paul, were both suspended from the league for three games for “verbal abuse of an official,” according to a DABA release.
The incident reportedly occurred on July 26, at the end of a premier division playoff quarter-final game between Joseph’s team and Paix Bouche Eagles, which the X-men won.
The report stated that Joseph was ejected from the game after receiving two technical fouls which earned him an automatic one-game suspension.
However, DABA said that both Joseph and Paul were suspended for three games for their remarks to the official after the game, which according to the association, was an infraction of the rules governing the tournament, which requires a three-game suspension for the verbal abuse of a referee or score official.
