SHOCK waves reverberated throughout the mining community and in Georgetown, following the tragic death, on Wednesday, of well known miner Alexander Murray, 67.
Police reported that it happened about 21:00 hrs that day when Murray, of Barima Avenue, Bel Air Park, in the city, was pinned by an excavator which toppled while in operation at Pamela Backdam, Mahdia, Potaro.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mahdia Hospital.
The father of five had been in the process of fixing a problem on the machine when it fell, crushing him to death.
