Police arrest two for July 17 Fullworks robbery

POLICE have arrested two men they wanted for questioning following the July 17 armed robbery at Fullworks Auto Spares, Lot 58 Public Road, Good Hope, East Coast Demerara.

The arrests were made during a July 25 raid on a house at Parfait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, where an unlicensed .38 Taurus revolver and four rounds of ammunition were found, too.
On hearing that the suspects were held, owner of the robbed business, Mohammed Ali told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that he is pleased with the development, although the police had not yet contacted him.
He said he is willing to assist the police in an identification parade because he can recognise the robbers, who stole close to $1M from his store in the afternoon heist.
It was about 14:20 hrs that day when two men, brandishing guns, barged into the place and brutally assaulted employees before carting off the money.
One employee was kicked in his stomach, thrown to the floor and ordered to remain quiet after being struck on his head with a weapon.
Another was also gun-butted in the head and had to be treated for a swelling at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

SAME EVENING
That same evening, the police chased a beige-coloured motor car they suspected to have been used by the bandits in their escape. Four men were held after the pursuit but none was identified as being one of the robbers.
Ravi Ali, an employee of Fullworks and a relative of its owner, told this newspaper that he was attending to a customer on July 17 when two men of African descent, dressed in white tee shirts and jeans, walked into the store and stopped in front of him.
He said the shorter of the duo asked him the price of a car front and, on getting a reply, they both walked away.
Then they enquired of the cashier after brandishing weapons and relieving a customer of cash and a cell phone before taking Fullworks’ day’s sales.
The employee Ali said they were experiencing blackouts that day and, therefore, the surveillance cameras did not capture any images.
