STRENGTHENING FRONTIER HEALTH : – The Guyana/Suriname Bi-National meeting on Health

THE Ministry of Health has taken a further step towards strengthening Frontier Health. The Ministries of Health of Guyana and Suriname conducted a successful three days bi-lateral meeting on Frontier Health. At the conclusion of the bi-lateral meeting, Guyana and Suriname signed a Declaration on July 13, 2013 at Skeldon, Berbice, committing to further strengthen this partnership and to work jointly in all areas of health especially Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs), HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Laboratory Services and Surveillance.

The partners of the meeting also agreed to invite other countries of the Guiana Shield – French Guiana and Brazil at their next meeting.

The Ministry of Health recognises the support provided to the joint Guyana Suriname meeting by PANCAP/GIZ/EPOS and CARICOM.
