GTM Group of Companies donates schoolbags to RHTYSC Sports Programme … Feroze Barakat and Barnwell also contribute

THE ROSE HALL Town Youth and Sports Club’s $1M Schoolbags for Sports Programme for the less fortunate students received a major boast last Friday when the GTM Group of Companies donated over $100 000 worth of schoolbags to the programme.

altThe Club’s Secretary/Chief Executive Officer Hilbert Foster received the school bags from Ms Donna Tucker, Human Resources Manager of GTM Group of Companies.
Foster stated that in 2012, the cricket teams of the club started the programme in response to the request from the parents of the less fortunate children.
In August last year, the teams distributed $600 000 worth of schoolbags and this year hope to distribute $1M worth of schoolbags and exercise books to students attending their annual summer camps and less fortunate students in the Lower Corentyne area.
Schoolbags would also be donated to the Berbice Cricket Board and Foster stated that the RHTYSC strongly believes in education as it is the foundation to a successful future for youths and also because it makes sportsmen and women better ambassadors for their respective disciplines.
He expressed gratitude to the management of GTM for its investment in the club education programme and expressed the hope that the relationship would continue into the future and urged other sports club in Guyana to get involved in the Anti-Drugs and Pro-educational campaign, as all sportspersons need to be fully educated to excel in sports while they need to understand the danger of drugs.
He expressed disappointment that too many youths are denied an educational background due to poverty and pledged that the RHTYSC would continue to assist to make a positive difference.
Company Secretary/Finance Controller of the GTM Group of Insurance Companies, Khemraj Goberdhan, expressed his company’s delight to be associated with the RHTYSC which he described as the most dynamic and productive club in Guyana.
