RK Guard Leon Saul suffers similar fate

PRESIDENT of the Guyana Rastafarian Council, 59-year-old RK Security Guard, Leon Saul, of Lot 1 Smyth and D’Urban Streets, Werk-en-Rust, was also, on Thursday, fined $20,000 and ordered to do community service by Magistrate Ann McLennan.

He had pleaded guilty, as well, to being in possession of 2.3 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) that same day.
Police Corporal Bharrat Mangru, prosecuting, told the court that ranks from the Narcotics Branch, at Eve Leary, conducted a search at the defendant’s Werk-en-Rust home and found the prohibited substance on his bed in a room.
The prosecutor said, when cautioned, Saul stated that the drug was for personal use.
Attorney-at-law, Mr. Paul Fung-a-Fat, representing the defendant, asked that the fact of personal use be considered a special reason and proposed the fine and community service, with which the magistrate concurred.
Saul will perform four months community service, every Friday, at Brickdam Police Station, in Georgetown, as well.
