American woman busted with cocaine at CJIA

AN American woman was busted by ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on Wednesday, after cocaine was found in her luggage.

Twenty-five-year-old United States (U.S.) Citizen Briana Ashley was, at the time, an outgoing passenger on Caribbean Airlines Flight BW 526, which was destined for the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.
The Guyana Chronicle was informed that CANU officers took the woman into custody after the narcotic was discovered concealed in her luggage.
After the bust at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timheri, the suspect was being questioned about the origin of the substance and who was behind her efforts to get it out of this country.
The exact amount of the illegal drug she was attempting to carry out could not be ascertained.
But she is just one of many apprehended, in recent times, at this country’s main entry and departure airport.
