ST.JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC) – The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has announced the staging of its Regional Under-15 Tournament set to bowl off next week at venues across Jamaica.
All six teams will be in action in round one of the round-robin tournament from Friday July 12.
Jamaica play Barbados at St Elizabeth Technical High School Ground, Guyana take on Leewards at ALPART while Trinidad & Tobago battle Windwards at Treasure Beach.
The tournament consists of 15 matches played over five rounds with each of the six teams playing five games.
The matches, as usual, will be over two days and will be played under tailor-made rules for Under-15 cricket.
In the first innings, teams will bat for two and a half hours during which a minimum of 37 overs must be bowled.
No fast or medium pace bowler will be allowed more than six overs in one spell and once the players complete a spell they must rest for a mandatory period of 40 minutes before resuming bowling.
The WICB Regional Under-15 Tournament began in 1996 with Trinidad and Tobago taking the inaugural title at home.
Barbados are reigning champions, having won in 2012 when the tournament was played in St Kitts.
