REGIO0NAL Chairman, Region 6, Mr. David Armogan has promised to ensure that the snacks procured for the school-feeding programme will be properly secured, as it was observed that the juices and biscuits have been appearing in market places where they are being sold.
According to Armogan, the Region 6 administrators have already inserted into the preliminary budget for 2014, storage bonds for most of the schools which are benefiting from the feeding programme.
“We will also put in for security of the stuff which we are giving to the children, very often we find that these things are getting into the market place and we have instances where juices and these things are being sold. We will have a few instances of this, but the only way we can completely eradicate this, is to have the items stored properly, and put under lock and key and get someone responsible to look over it. But currently the way the items are stored has left much to be desired.”
INFESTATION
In addition to inadequate storage, Armogan said that rats and insects infestation has also resulted in the destruction of many products, designed to boost the nutritional intake of pupils in most of the learning institutions countrywide.
