THE St Francis Community Developers (SFCD) of Port Mourant, Berbice, continues to reach out to the wider community by, presenting a quantity of sports equipment to clubs in the Rose Hall Community.
The donation was made possible through the Ministry of Home Affairs and the International Development Bank, Citizens Security Programme, under the Rapid Impact Project.
Among the recipients are: The Jammers Boxing Club, Rose Hall Football Club, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club and the students of St Francis.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony last Friday, president of SFCD, Alex Foster, said that the club is pleased to work in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs in ensuring that sports clubs are equipped with the relevant gear to better their training and produce good results.
“St Francis is happy to be associated with sporting groups and organisations to promote development and harmony among members of the sport fraternity,” he further stated.
Foster said that it gave him pleasure in donating equipment to the Jammers Boxing Club since it produced a National Novice Champion. Tyron Lashley, 18, recently copped the best boxer and champion trophy in Georgetown.
“We hope that with the new training gear, Rose Hall Town will produce more champions and those with boxing ambitions will be encouraged to become members of the Jammers Club,” he said.
Foster promised that the SFCD will continue to work in collaboration with various organisations to reach out to sporting bodies, once they have an established management team willing to work in the best interest of sports. (Michael Khan)
