THE police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred around 10:25 hrs yesterday at 58 Miles, Mabura, and which resulted in the death of Trevon Morris, 26 years, of ‘B’ Field, Sophia.
Investigations have revealed that Trevon
Morris and Lawrence Harris, 40 years, of Waterloo Street, Georgetown, were in motor vehicle PJJ 571 driven by Jermaine Prince, 37 years, of Oronoque Street, Georgetown, when the driver lost control of the vehicle which turned turtle, resulting in injuries to all three occupants.
The police said Trevon Morris was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mabura Health Centre, while Lawrence Harris and Jermaine Prince were air-dashed out to Georgetown.
Reports are that Harris and Prince were air-dashed by the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) helicopter from Mabura to the Omai airstrip, from where they were medivac’d to Ogle International Airport.
The two survivors of yesterday’s accident have been admitted to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for medical treatment.
It is understood that Prince and Harris are staffers of the Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company Limited (GT&T) while Morris was a contractor.
A company source said details of the accident are as yet unclear, but the technicians were returning to the city after they had conducted routine maintenance of the Lethem Exchange in Region 9 when they encountered the tragedy.
Morris reportedly died at the scene of the accident. GT&T, last evening, extended deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Morris and said it will ensure the injured staff are given every available medical support to aid recovery.
