CHAIRMAN of Region 2, (Pomeroon-Supenaam) Mr. Parmanand Persaud has congratulated Dr Vindhya Persaud on her election as President of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha.

Mr Persaud said the new president has the ability, experience and right approach to lead the organisation and will surely cause it to rejuvenate.
The Region 2 Chairman said Dr. Persaud, as a Parliamentarian, has done well and he commended her, noting that the experience she has gained in the National Assembly will  help her to further develop  the organisation.

UNDEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES
Looking back at the formation of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha many years ago, Mr. Persaud said the organisation was formed at a time when the Hindu community was facing undemocratic principles under the Guyana Hindu Pandits Council that supported the PNC Government which was rigging national elections, and causing great suffering  to the Guyanese people.
The Chairman said many Hindus were not pleased with the actions of the Pandits Council and so formed the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha under the guidance of Vindhya’s father, the late Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud.
According to the Region 2 Chairman, the Dharmic Sabha, ever since its establishment, has stretched its arms to all the coastal regions of the country where Hindus are living. He said Hindus on the Essequibo Coast have given massive support to the organisation over the years, and to the late Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud who established the Dharmic Sabha and fought for democracy in many struggles with the PPP.
Mr. Persaud said Hindus in Region 2 will continue to give their support to Dr.  Vindhya Persaud, the recently-elected President of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha.
