Essequibo man remanded over cocaine possession

Essequibo Magistrate Sunil Scarce has remanded a 30-year-old man of Spring Garden, Essequibo Coast on a charge of possession of cocaine.

According to reports, Yogesh Chandrika, a labourer, appeared before the magistrate last week Wednesday in the Anna Regina court to answer to a charge of possession of cocaine. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison.
According to police reports, Chandrika was arrested after he was found in possession of one and half grams of cocaine at Spring Garden by a police patrol on June 4.The prisoner will make another appearance in the court on June 28.
