Decomposing body of alcoholic found in home -residents took scent for that of a dead rat

THE constant strange stench coming from the alleyway to their home forced a Shell Road Kitty family to call in the police to investigate.

The result was the discovery of the body of a man whose name was given as Michael Prince said to be an alcoholic.
Speaking with this newspaper yesterday morning from their lot 190 Shell road Kitty home which is located aback the building in which the man’s decomposing body was discovered and retrieved, Alicia Haynes said that it was when the stench became unbearable that the police had to be informed.
She said that the man has been living at the location for several years now and was never a bother to anyone. She said that the last time he was last spoted on Monday night by her mother.
After they began to get the stench they first thought it to be that of a dead rat but after reflecting that the man has not been seen since Monday the police was called in and when they made their way into the upper flat of the dilapidated building which had no stairs the man’s body was found.
She said that after the investigations were conducted and the Lykens Funeral Parlour was summoned but when the undertakers arrived they informed the police that the body was a challenge to get out of the building because of its weight and the fact that the building had to stairs.
The body was then left in the building and yesterday morning the Fire Service was called in to assist and they were successful  in getting the body out of the house.
They body then lay in the yard of the Haynes family, the young lady added, before it was removed and placed into a hearse and taken away
The only thing persons in the area could remember of the man is that he would usually leave the house early in the morning and return in the night.
They said that when he is under the influence he would usually speak loudly to himself and throw down things now and again. Apart from that they added he was the type of persons you had no problem living around.
