CONSTABLE Dorwin Pitman who was chasing a fleeing prisoner on Monday morning in North Sophia died of a heart attack however his mother Stacy pitman is not buying the story. Yesterday a post-mortem conducted by government pathologist, Nehaul Singh revealed that the 23-year old police officer who was stationed at Prashad Nagar died of heart attack.
Speaking with this publication after the examination yesterday the man’s mother said that she is not very pleased with the results of the post-mortem since she is very sure that her son died as a result of electricity shock.
She questioned the result and questioned the work the police are doing to deal with the person who was stealing electricity in the area where her son met his demise.
Asked if the heart attack was caused by any other medical conditions the woman said that they were not informed of such but only told of the heart attack being the cause of death.
Meanwhile, at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation morgue yesterday morning the woman and her relatives had a slight uphill task in getting the post-mortem done since they were not in possession of the source document to facilitate it.
She explained to this newspaper that they were required to present the identification card of the dead cop along with the identification card of one or two of the relatives who were going to witness and sign for the body after the post-mortem.
According to Ms. Pitman after her son died on Monday the mother of his child went to the outpost in Prashad Nagar and was only given his pants, slipper, bank and national insurance scheme cards.
She said that his bunch of keys and identification card which he always had on his person with the other cards were not presented to the young lady. The dead police officer is expected to be buried on Monday.
Up to yesterday the police had not arrested anyone for the illegal power connection and now with the result of the post-mortem result it is not clear if anyone will be arrested for that illegal act of electricity theft.
The option of arresting and charging someone for the electricity theft will remain open for debate since according to a source at the power company and the police force informed this publication that the two agencies cannot work independently in going after such cases.
