I read Noel Antone’s Letter in the Guyana Chronicle Newspaper of Friday June 7, 2013 under the Headline “Strange Happenings in South Rupununi.”
According to the letter writer, Mr. Tony James of Aishalton village is a member of the APA, a member of the Amerindian Peoples Liberation Front (APLF) and a self-declared supporter of APNU who is in the Act of committing a serious offence against Guyana by wanting to set up “a state within a state” which will be replicated in the Amerindian Communities of Regions 1, 7 & 8 through Territorial Titles to land and armed conflicts.
Mr. Editor, does Tony James, of the remote Aishalton village in the South Rupununi, want to have a semblance of the 1968 Rupununi uprising which was very brutal? Further, what are these 9 declarations of the APLF? What is the APLF by the way and who are its leaders?
Tony James seems to be carrying out the instructions of this foreign-like body which is operating very secretively in the South and South Central areas of the Rupununi. What is the APA’s position on Tony James’s agenda of setting up autonomous Amerindian states within the state of Guyana, through armed struggle which is a gross violation of Guyana’s territorial integrity since Tony James is a member of the APA which has also been calling for territorial titles to land? Further, what is the relationship between the APA and the Amerindian Peoples Liberation Front (APLF)?
Mr. Editor, I think the high-command of our security forces needs to wake up now and pay careful attention on what is happening in our remote Amerindian communities in Regions 1,7,8,9 in relation to activities designed to violate our country’s territorial integrity. As well as to secure and protect the Amerindian Communities in South and South Central Rupununi since they are not supporting Tony James’s divisive agenda.
The security forces at Lethem must engage Mr. Tony James and seriously question him about his linkage with the APLF and its nine declarations.
Mr. Editor, Guyana does not need another Rupununi uprising, since Guyana is a peaceful united and democratic country.
