POLICE destroyed a half-acre cultivation of cannabis sativa (marijuana) during a drug eradication exercise at Ann’s Grove Backdam, East Coast Demerara.

It happened about 10:00 hrs on Thursday when the field, with approximately 60 plants, ranging in height from one foot to six feet, was found.
No arrest was made in that instance, but two men were arrested in a drug bust at Amelia’s Ward Public Road, Linden on Wednesday.
Police said the arrests were made about 14:20 hrs when ranks stopped a minibus at a roadblock and a search of it yielded three kilogrammes 606 grammes of marijuana.
