OFFICIALS from the Machinery Corporation of Guyana (MACORP) recently met with officials from the Guyana Gold & Diamond Miners Association (GGDMA) for talks aimed at improving the management of Caterpillar equipment being used in the local gold industry.
MACORP General Manager Jorge Medina and president of the GGDMA, Patrick Harding, led the discussions which saw commitments being made towards the hosting of seminars on how to reduce operating cost for all Caterpillar equipment.
The Guyana Gold & Diamond Miners Association was given a tour of MACORP’s new training practice ground, which is now open for the public to have hands-on training on excavator operation.
The price of gold was of primary importance to both entities, and towards the financial sustainability of the sector, commitments were made to enhance skills’ training with focus being on equipment maintenance and operation.
