KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC) – President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Dave Cameron says he plans to announce details of new initiatives between the WICB and current and retired regional cricketers.

Cameron made the announcement after a formal meeting with executive members of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) on the heels of his election victory at the WICB Annual General Meeting last month.
The meeting is part of a series around the region planned by the new WICB president as he continues with a pre-election promise to meet with the territorial boards.
“There are some announcements to be made soon regarding retired players and more strategic partnerships with the existing players,” Cameron said without providing details.
The meeting between the JCA executive and Cameron focused on matters pertaining to the upcoming Celkon Mobile Cup, the Caribbean Premier League and the roles the respective territorial boards should play in West Indies cricket.
Cameron also endorsed his earlier position that “the players are the most significant assets of the game,” but urged the 12 JCA officers present to be focused on “managing the institution of cricket using the structure through schools, clubs and the national programmes.”
Cameron has already met with Guyana Cricket Board and the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board and is scheduled to meet with the Barbados Cricket Association this week.
