A VENDOR who allegedly robbed a woman of $83,500 was yesterday refused bail when he appeared before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that on May 20 Seon Davis, who resides at 35 Duncan Street, Kitty, robbed Sandra Deo Persaud at the Stabroek Market Square.
Prosecutor Ramsahoye Rambajue said that the virtual complainant (VC) was heading west to Stabroek Market when Davis attacked her with a spray. Her face was burnt by the substance and the defendant fled the scene with her haversack which contained $40,000, two bottles of perfume valued $4000, an Alcatel cell phone worth $20,000; her passport valued $15,000 and two identification cards and the haversack valued $4,500.
Davis denied the charge brought against him and told the court that he has no pending matters. “This is the first ever ah get charge.”
Bail was refused and the matter was transferred to Court 6, for May 30 for report and fixture.
