THE world-renowned ‘King of Sufi Music’, Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, is set to thrill Guyanese at the Guyana National Stadium on June 9, 2013.

Organisers are promising an enchanting evening filled with the inspiring and exhilarating music of Qawwali, Ghazals, Bollywood hit songs and even Qaseeda recitals.
At a press briefing Wednesday at the Hibiscus Restaurant, Middle Street, Georgetown, organisers of the event disclosed that the singer will be arriving with a 22-member band on the morning of June 9 to perform for the Guyanese nation and will also include the only West Indian to ever enter the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Purnash Durgaprasad.
Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is the voice behind hit songs such as Tere Mast Mast Do Nain, Sajda, Teri Meri Prem Kahani, Teri Ore and many others.
Fateh Ali Khan is an acclaimed singer and composer who has collaborated with numerous artists from India as well as Western pop musicians. He has more than 50 albums released, has sung 30-plus title tracks of Hindi TV soap operas, serials and dozens of super hits Bollywood Filmi songs in the last few years.
Khan was introduced to Bollywood in Mahesh Bhatt’s movie ‘Paap’ and has continued to give award winning hits for films such as Dabaang, My Name is Khan, Bodyguard, Dabaang 2, Singh is King, and many others.
Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali is the nephew of the legendary Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He has now captured the hearts of millions worldwide and continues to mesmerize audiences with his melodious voice and Sufi music.
The organisers are Mr. Neaz Subhan of the Indian Arrival Committee, Mr. Deo Narine of Elite Entertainment and Mr. Rajendra Singh who is also involved in production.
According to Singh, the contract has already been signed and everything is in place for the star’s arrival here.
Meanwhile, he refuted the rumours where persons are claiming that the singer’s visa to Guyana has not been granted; stating that this is completely untrue and Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will most definitely grace Guyana for the first time.
Meanwhile, Narine highlighted that this will indeed be a very big event as he is a US-based promoter and has been involved in bringing  many Bollywood stars to the stage, including Indian Soap Stars “Dev and Radhika” of “Choti Bahu”, among many others and would like to assure Guyanese that the superstar will be performing at the National Stadium.
Although the megastar is coming with his own emcee, Guyanese sensation Joel Ghansham will be emceeing the Guyanese acts which have been added to the show such as the Ishara Dance Troupe and other local artistes.
Elite Entertainment in collaboration with international promoter Portfolio Marketing and Events (PME) are the organisers of the event.

The Guyana concert forms part of Khan’s 2013 North American and Caribbean tour which commenced in Dallas, Texas on April 19 and concludes in New York on June 15.
