MILITARY Police, on May 18, arrested a recently retired Warrant Officer Class One, who refused to accede to a search of his bag, following his unauthorised entry into the Guyana Defence Force’s Ration Depot at Base, Camp Ayanganna, Georgetown.
A GDF release said the retiree, who was not named, had been verbally ordered to report to the Officer-in-Charge of the Military Police Department but did not and checks, later, revealed that he was in possession of a quantity of frozen chicken.
The matter was reported to Alberttown Police Station from where an investigation was carried out with statements taken from military personnel involved in the matter.
The ex-warrant officer appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on May 20, charged with larceny of the chicken from the GDF Ration Depot and has been placed on $25,000 bail.
