Defendant kisses Court floor in quest of leniency

MARLON Bradshaw (no address given) went down on his knees and kissed the floor in an effort to persuade Magistrate Sueanna Lovell to be lenient with  him in a threatening language case.

He had pleaded not guilty to an offence, particulars of which said he committed it on May 19, when he threatened Tracy Bovell.
Police Prosecutor Alexis David-Hossanah told the Court that the defendant was a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) when he shouted that he “liked” one of the women working there and, if he saw her elsewhere, he would rape her.
But Bradshaw admitted, knowing, he cannot mind a woman and so he does not look in that direction.
A woman, in the courtroom for a different matter, stood up and said Bovell and the Police were lying against Bradshaw because she happened to be at the hospital when the incident occurred and did not hear him say anything about raping.
The woman said she is a mother of eleven and could not understand how people can lie against another in that manner.
She said, because Bradshaw behaved badly at the hospital, they made up false reports against him.
The woman was cautioned to shut her mouth and sit down as someone in the audience cannot just rise and address the magistrate on a matter with which the individual is not involved.
Magistrate Lovell had, initially, put Bradshaw on $15,000 bail but changed that ruling and sent him on his own recognisance.
She warned him that he could be arrested and sent to jail if he fails to return for trial on June 10.
