TWENTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD, Benny Adams allegedly beat his father, Gilbert Adams, 56, to death at Moruca, North West District on Tuesday.
Reports from the interior community said the father and son were drinking alcohol when a heated argument started between them, triggered by old grievances.
The father left after the argument became heated, and started along a trail to visit a female friend.
But his son followed him, reports say, and beat him about the head with a piece of wood.
It is believed that the son, realising what he had done, attempted to hang himself.
Up to press time, the police and relatives were looking for the young man.
The deceased has nine children with different women.
He only returned home Tuesday from the Essequibo Coast, where he worked for some weeks as a labourer and was going to one of his women friends to give her some money when he met his death at the hands of his own son.
The son, Benny, has a wife and three children and is self-employed as a logger.
Police are investigating.
