TWENTY-YEAR-OLD Kasey Heyligar, of Lot 20 Dowding Street, Kitty Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore yesterday, charged with simple larceny.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on Monday, May 20, at St. Gabriel Primary School, Oronoque and Crown Streets, also in the city, he stole one Samsung Galaxy cellular phone, valued $140,000, property of Shane Rai.
Police Sergeant Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, did not object and the defendant was granted $50,000 bail, until June 6, after defence counsel, Dexter Todd said Cox has no other case pending and no previous conviction.
The virtual complainant’s mother, Suraiya Rai told the court that her student son is, currently, sitting the Caribbean Secondary Certificate Examination (CSEC) and she needs some time to decide whether she will proceed with the case.
Heyligar was the second man to be accused of cell phone theft in the same court yesterday.
