THE Social Life Issues Guidance and Counselling Service inaugurated the latter aspect of its purpose yesterday, at a press conference in the Water Chris Restaurant, on Waterloo Street, Georgetown.
The organisation comprises a small group of professionally qualified, experienced and practising social workers and counsellors with a vision of providing assistance to society, through information and education, on some dilemmas, inclusive of illegal drugs, alcohol, gambling and other related potential disasters, to both the individual and the family.
This grouping has been in existence for the past two years and its motto is ‘Nipping It in The Bud’.
Programme Coordinator and Chief Counsellor, Mr. John Greaves claimed their service is one with a difference.
“The reason we are so different is because we are not only theoretical but very practical. We have the human resources who are very experienced and qualified,” he boasted.
Greaves said they have targeted 12 private secondary schools across the country but will not disclose the names as yet, because they have not yet “signed on the dotted line.”
Other members on a committee with him are Mr. Wayne Campbell and Ms. Joan Allen, together with Secretary, Ms. Beverly Rogers and Treasurer, Ms. Laurna Agar.
