Forensic specialist and eyewitness testify at peacemaker murder trial

FORENSIC Specialist, Dr. Nehaul Singh and Sonia Williams, an eyewitness, gave evidence yesterday when the peacemaker murder trial continued at the Demerara Assizes before Justice Navindra Singh and a mixed jury.

The story about how a peacemaker was stabbed to death in 2009 while attempting to part a fight at King Edward and James Street, Albouystown, was told to the judge and jury at the Demerara Assizes.
Carl Bennett is accused of the murder of Mervin Boston on the 24th of October, 2009.
According to the prosecution, there was a family brawl on the day in question, when Boston turned up and took the role of peacemaker when he was murdered.
Bennett has pleaded not guilty and is being represented by Attorney–at-Law, Mr. Nigel Hughes.
Miss Rhonder Weever and Miss Renita Singh are conducting the case for the prosecution.
Eyewitness, Miss Sonia Williams, of 142 Cooper Street, Albouystown, said that she was on the scene and the accused was about six feet away from her when she saw him with a cutlass.
She recalled seeing a police vehicle and she told them about the matter and the police approached those who were in a fight and took them to the station.
She added, “Nothing was blocking my view when the accused was running from the scene with a cutlass…   I was going to collect my son from school at Cooper Street, between James Street and Punt Trench.
“I saw Carl Bennett in the middle of the street and he approached me while I was going for my son. He told me that he was in our house last Wednesday and that he would kill all of us.”
The trial is continuing.
