A 70-year old pensioner Archie Belle Fernandes of Mora Village Wakapao, Lower Pomeroon River was killed on Wednesday after a tree reportedly fell on him and pinned him to death.

According to reports the pensioner had gone in the dense forest to cut a special tree to make wooden paddles. The tree he was cutting reportedly fell on him taking his life.
Reports further revealed that after family members did not see the pensioner return, a search was conducted and he was found lying dead under the tree.
Police was summoned to the scene and an investigation was launched.
