Two health fairs in Georgetown draw widespread support

TWO health fairs were held in different sections of Georgetown yesterday, drawing widespread public, corporate and service organisation support.
The health fair organised by the Lions Club International, Region 2 District, in collaboration with the Guyana Girl Guides Association was held at the Girl Guides Pavilion, Upper Brickdam, Georgetown. altThis health fair on Brickdam targeted all age groups and saw staff from the nearby Ministry of Health, Guyana Geology and Mines Commission, Guyana Gold Board, and GT&T, as well as members of the public making full use of the services.
Persons were afforded treatment for skin conditions, vision and hearing loss screenings, and   spectacles were issued in some cases.
Meanwhile, the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in collaboration with the GTM Group of Companies also hosted a health fair yesterday at the GTM Head Office,Robb and Hincks Street.
This health fair drew members of the public from all age groups, as well as staff of GTM, who benefitted from such  services as blood glucose testing, blood pressure monitoring, Body Mass Index (BMI) measurement, HIV testing and counselling, visual acuity, breast examinations,  and diabetic foot care.
According to Yasmin Bowman, GTM Group Marketing Officer, they are hoping to make this an annual event in collaboration with the GPHC
Both fares got underway at 10:00hrs and concluded at 15:00hrs.
