A VERY distraught woman is desperately seeking financial assistance to offset expenses for a life saving operation on her son.
The man, 20-year-old Satish Gobin, underwent a kidney transplant in India last year but discovered, recently, that his system is rejecting the organ.
Test results shown to the Guyana Chronicle indicated that readings for Gobin are abnormal and it means he requires urgent surgery to alter his medical condition that is described as life threatening.
As such, his mother, Shureen Ragubeer and other relatives are soliciting funds from corporate and private businesses and individuals.
The family members are saddened that they cannot raise the much needed cash and fear for his survival.
For the operation in India, the air fare costs $1,118,190. and it is expected to be conducted at the Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute (a super-specialty hospital for liver, renal and digestive diseases).
The expense for the surgery has been set at US$20,000 while pre-transplant work-up for a donor recipient will take another US$3,000.
The kidney transplant procedure will cost
US$10,000 and the post-transplant investigation and medication a further US$2,000.
Expenditure on food and accommodation outside the hospital is estimated to be between US$2,000 and US$2,500.
Anti-kidney rejection injections range from US$2,000 to US$2,500.
Gobin has been referred to the Indian institution by the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) and persons desirous of making donations can do so through account number 164-859-1 at any Republic Bank branch.
His relatives are appealing to all Guyana to donate and help save the still young Gobin.
