Such lawlessness must stop in Guyana

MONDAY May 13 was a day of a grave criminal act perpetrated by the Guyana Power and Light.
Millions of dollars in vehicle damage, and many injuries happened, and many are distressed psychologically with pains in their bodies.  My very own daughter could have died.  Thank God, she stepped out of the car.

Investigations have led me to learn that two transformers fell from a lorry of the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) vehicle in the morning.  They broke and leaked oil on the East Coast carriageway.  I find this most despicable that a responsible company such as GPL will not accept that it was their fault.  The police need to conduct some serious investigations into this matter, and institute charges not only on the driver and labourers and technicians on the vehicle, but also on the senior management of GPL for not enquiring and accepting that they are at fault.
This is most sickening.  Even the Hon. Minister of Public Works made a statement on the issue but did not say whether his ministry would investigate and find the culprits or insist on the police to conduct thorough investigations.  Even the police seem confused on the situation.  While the Sparendaam police responded and took control, for which they should be applauded, Kitty Police Station, despite being informed was most disorganised, and appeared not to know what to do.
It was I, who called the fire department, after the crashes, and after learning that my daughter could have died. The Fire Service responded quickly, but were not cautious initially, thank God, they eventually heeded the RK’s Security Officer, Mr. David Moore, who took control of the traffic before the police came, and they slowed down, as they also could have toppled and make things worse.
After, my daughter Rosheena  Latifan Khan, could not have stopped her car, she collided with the rear of a red motor car.  She was dazed and shocked, and barely stepped out, when a blue 44 mini-bus No. BNN 9334, refused to heed the warning of RK’s Security Officer, Mr. Moore, and successfully bypassed him. Despite his screams for the driver to stop, he refused to stop and drove at high speed.  He then slid, and careened into the rear of my daughter’s white Mark 2, which is not even registered as yet.  He caused substantial damage to the vehicle, which may run into at least one million dollars, if we can get the parts.
I have the driver, his bus and his conversation with the television station.  I can show it to the police anytime.
He was interviewed by HGPTV CH 67, and yet he committed one of the worst acts of criminality, without care he just sped off and have not reported to the police to date, and even the owner of the bus did not report or enquire.  Hence, both parties need to be seriously criminally charged.
Such lawlessness must stop in Guyana. Firstly, GPL for not accepting their fault and for making approaches to owners of the damaged vehicles.   There is pain and suffering, and there is also compensation for the damage or replacement of the vehicles.
The senior management needs to be seriously sanctioned for this blatant criminal act.  It is a terrible thing when a monopoly company makes mistakes and cannot accept its faults and speak the truth.
Further, the minster responsible should publicly address the situation.  Then, there is the driver and owner of the mini-bus, and even the passengers who failed to inform the police after their driver drove off.  They were also most immature and criminal in their behaviour.

I have no intention allowing this matter to rest. I am available to speak with anyone on this issue, my contact numbers are: 227-7740/2267541 or Mobile: 624-6892
