Crime Chief assures… Investigation still active into Jason Wills execution style murder

CRIME Chief Seelall Persaud assured, yesterday, that the investigation of the execution style killing of Mahdia miner Jason Wills is still active.

altBut there has been no new development in the case although, initially, several persons including two who were in the Pine Grove, Meadow Brook Gardens, Georgetown house, at the time when Wills was riddled with a hail of bullets had been detained.
They were questioned and subsequently released with no further arrests made.
However, the Deputy Commissioner (Crime) disclosed that Police recovered .45 and 7.62 spent shells from the crime scene.
Jason ‘Teddy’ Wills, 33, was shot dead last January 31, while in the company of friends watching television.
It was reported that two gunmen jumped the fence and entered the building through an unlocked front door and sprayed the surprised Wills with bullets.
The gold miner had journeyed from Mahdia, Potaro, to spend some time in the city and was staying at the home of a friend when he was murdered.
The incident took place about 20:00 hrs and Wills suffered seven gunshot wounds to the body from which he succumbed within minutes.
Meanwhile, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) disclosed, on Monday, that a total of 36 murders were recorded at the end of April, in comparison to 36 for the same period in 2012. Of the 36, 14 were of the disorderly type, seven committed during armed robberies, one was an execution type and three were domestic related, while the other 11 have, so far, not been categorised.
