Woman, 30, found murdered in city hotel room – with more than one dozen stab wounds

THE Guyana Police Force is on the hunt for a man who stabbed a woman more than one dozen times and left her lying in a pool of blood in a room at the K&VC hotel on South Road.

altDead is 30-year-old Maryann Sunita Nauth. The police up to late yesterday were trying to ascertain where the woman lived and who are her relatives.
The Guyana Chronicle was informed that the woman showed up at the hotel in the company of a man on Saturday night and according to hotel staffers who spoke with this publication, the two did not appear to have any problems.
The discovery of the woman’s body was made yesterday morning just after 05:00 hrs when hotel workers visited the room to remind the woman and her male companion that the time they had booked in for had expired.
Among the injuries which were visible on the woman’s body were slashes to her breast and a knife was left stuck between the woman’s breasts.alt
After the discovery was made, hotel staffers called in the police who responded promptly and began their investigations, but the man who had been with the woman in the hotel had long gone.
The woman was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where all efforts to revive her were futile.
In their search for the killer, the police are looking for a man who appeared in a photograph with the woman and which was left next to the body.
However, one police source who is assisting with the investigation is questioning why any killer would leave such evidence at a murder scene.  According to this source, the photo could be a ploy to frame someone else for the woman’s murder.
Meanwhile yesterday some K&VC members of staff were denying that the incident occurred at the hotel on South Road, saying that they were not aware of any such incident. In the meantime, police are continuing their investigations.
