Over 10,000 sand bags installed at Kitty Seawall – as high tide expected at 03:17hrs today

ALL systems were being put in place yesterday along with continued monitoring as the high tide is expected to be at 03:17 hrs today.

altAll the areas which were vulnerable in Regions 2, 3 and 4 will be monitored closely as preparatory works were being done.
Head of the Works Services Group of the Ministry of Public Works, Mr. Jeffrey Vaughn, in an invited comment told Guyana Chronicle that the eroded area in the vicinity of the Kitty Seawall between Pere Street and Lilliendaal will be monitored as over 10,000 sand bags were installed in areas to prevent the water from overtopping.
He noted that officers from his department will also be monitoring the other threatened areas along the coast. Vaughn mentioned that additional sand bags are being loaded in the event of any other overtopping.
