Husband bonded for wounding wife

LESTER Prince, of Lot 134 Stevedore Housing Scheme, Georgetown, was placed on a one-year bond yesterday, for unlawfully and maliciously wounding his wife, Tavia Prince,

His alternative is six months imprisonment, Magistrate Fabayo Azore told him.
He committed the offence on Wednesday, April 24, at their home, Police Prosecutor Renetta Bentham said.
The prosecutor said around 18:00 hrs that day, the couple were conversing about work when, suddenly, the husband became annoyed, after a misunderstanding, held on to his wife and hit her head against a wall, causing injuries to her mouth, as well.
The man related a different story, claiming the woman was injured by accident, as  he was sleeping on the floor and his wife was lying on a chair.
He said, after the misunderstanding, she got angry and leaned towards him at the same time he bent forward and their heads knocked against each other’s.
However, the wife complained that she has endured too much with the defendant and it has become unbearable, so she wants a restraining order.
She disclosed that, a few nights ago, her husband came in the bed with a knife and, when she inquired what was his purpose for having it, his response was that he would kill himself.
The woman said she responded by telling him:”If you want to kill yourself, do it outside, not in the bed.”
