LINDEN Foundation Secondary School teacher, Geneva Barret, who was the last to appear among the seven delegates, was the first choice of the panel of judges as she walked away with the Miss Linden Big, Bold and Beautiful Pageant title last Friday morning at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground.
In front of a nearly packed MSC pavilion it was clear that these full-figured women had much to display with their unique qualities in talent, character and beauty.
Eventually the big, bold and beautiful Barret was the popular choice among the seven delegates. However, it was not given on a platter as she survived a testing question and answer period and a potent challenge from first runner-up Latoya Prince who showed great poise in her bid for the crown. The second runner-up spot was grabbed by Carol Prince.
Appearing in her white and silver evening gown, Barret charmed the crowd before tilting the stakes in her favour.
Appearing last did not place Barret at any disadvantage as she swept the majority of prizes on offer from the competition. From the outset she exuded confidence and the audience responded passionately to her.
In spite of the consistent drizzle over the MSC Ground, many persons braved the threat of a heavy downpour as the delegates highlighted the particular they featured and this was appreciated in view of the names of many streets in the Linden area.
Eventually the first delegate on stage Miss Latoya Carryl had to settle for the first runner-up position after a tussle with Barret, although some patrons were uneasy about the selection of the questions when it was Barret’s turn to answer.
Each delegate played an important role in her presentation and it was obvious that much research was done on the various species of wood which they represented and this was well received by the vocal crowd.
