Jagdeo’s libel case against Kissoon to continue on June 21

THE libel case against Kaieteur News columnist, Freddie Kissoon was again postponed yesterday in the High Court and is now fixed for continuation on June 21.

Former President Bharrat Jagdeo is suing Kissoon for libel. The case will resume before Justice Brassington Reynolds, with Kissoon still under cross-examination. Kissoon is being represented by Attorney-at-law, Nigel Hughes.
The libel suit was filed by Jagdeo alleging that he was libelled in a June 28, 2010, Kaieteur News article headlined ‘King Kong sent his goons to disrupt the conference.’
Apart from Kissoon, the publishers of the newspaper and its Editor Adam Harris are also named as respondents.
Jagdeo is being represented by Senior Counsel, Bernard De Santos and Sase Gunraj and the defence lawyers include Khemraj Ramjattan and Christopher Ram. (Telesha Ramnarine)
