THE five pupils from a South Road Nursery School in the city who were rushed to the Emergency Room of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and admitted on Tuesday, after ingesting a small portion of rat poison, have been released from the institution. The Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Michael Khan, who made the disclosure in a telephone interview, told the Guyana Chronicle that the patients, all girls, were discharged yesterday morning after being treated.
The GPH, in a statement on Tuesday, said the five were taken there around 09:32 hrs and kept for observation.
It was reported that they ingested the substance after it was taken to the school by another pupil who did not consume any.
When that was discovered, the affected children were immediately carried to the hospital by a teacher and their parents informed, subsequently.
