Man remanded on illegal possession of ammo charge

REAL estate agent Steven King, of Lot 50 Middleton Street, Campbellville, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday, charged with illegal possession of ammunition. Particulars of the offence said, on Saturday, April 27, at Brickdam, also in Georgetown, he had two live 9 mm rounds and two 9 mm shells. Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for the defendant, on the grounds of the nature of the crime, the penalty it attracts and the fact that he admitted ownership.
King was remanded to prison, until May 17, despite defence counsel Peter Hugh stating that he was in company of two others at Brickdam Station and is not the owner of the car in which the search was carried out.
