WALTER Narine, 39, of Lot 78 Area ‘F’ Ogle, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday, charged with conspiring to commit a felony. He pleaded not guilty to the offence, which said, on Wednesday, January 2, in Georgetown, he conspired with person or persons unknown to forge one analytic test report.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, said Shazad Sukram, the Quality Control Manager at Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital approached the Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST) with an analytic test report purported to have been signed by Mahendra Rampersaud, a chemist at the same institution.
But, on checking it, the document revealed that IAST never tested for that hospital nor did Rampersaud sign it.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Paul Fung-a-Fat, for Narine, said the latter is the administrative assistant at the Balwant Singh Hospital and has no previous conviction.
Narine was granted $200,000 bail until May 10.
