RHTYSC to host 23rd Annual Awards ceremony today

WICKETKEEPER/batsman, Delbert Hicks, will this afternoon receive the prestigious Cricketer-of-the-Year Award for 2012 when the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) stages its 23rd annual awards ceremony at the St Francis Training Centre on JC Chandisingh Avenue in Rose Hall Town.

Hicks, who represented Guyana in one First-Class match in 2009 against Barbados and four List A games, was outstanding for the club’s first division team Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets with both bat and gloves and was one of the main reasons the team played exceptionally well for the entire year.
A total of 35 club members will be honoured during the awards ceremony, receiving a total in excess of G$3M worth of trophies, medals, prizes and gifts, while the club will also honour over 100 of its sponsors, journalists and friends.
Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) Chief Financial Officer Justin Nedd, will deliver the feature address, with Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster expected to give a comprehensive report on the club’s activities.
Other speakers include the Club’s patron Beverley Harper and president of the Berbice Cricket Board Keith Foster. Among the awardees are runner-up Cricketer-of-the-Year Shawn Pereira, All-rounder-of-the-Year Renwick Batson, Guyana and West Indies middle-order batsman Assad Fudadin and West Indies female player Shemaine Campbelles.
