POLICE have detained a licensed firearm holder as they continue investigating a Saturday, April 20 shooting at his land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara home.
The victims, Courtney Moore, 30, and Ralph Paul, 43, both of Land of Canaan, too, are receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
They were each shot on their right shoulder when confronted by the home owner, in relation to the alleged larceny of articles from his premises, where an argument developed and the latter discharged several rounds.
Meanwhile, in a separate occurrence, police said, about 00:45 hr yesterday, Troy Adams, 40, of Norton Street, was at Camp Street and North Road, when he was attacked by two men armed with handguns.
The attackers fired shots in his direction, hitting him and taxi driver Ian Sampson, 32, of East La Penitence.
The latter was standing by his motor vehicle in the vicinity of Adams and both the wounded men were admitted to the same hospital for medical treatment, while investigations are in progress, police said.
In a similar incident, a route 40 minibus driver narrowly avoided being killed, in a drive-by shooting from a motor car early Sunday morning, when he returned home and was standing in front of his house.
Rabindra Samaroo, 26, of Owen Street, Kitty, another Georgetown address, is also a patient at the GPH, where his relatives said he is in stable condition and recuperating.
Police said that attack took place about 01:15 hrs on Sunday and Samaroo was hit in his abdomen.
His relatives told the Guyana Chronicle that the well-known Samaroo was recently involved in a fight with another man, who, they believe, orchestrated the shooting and police have since received information although no arrest has yet been made.
Contacted yesterday, Commander of Police ‘A’ Division Derrick Josiah said investigations are continuing and that was all he could say about the report.
